Want to Promote the Dairy Industry in Ulster County?

Young women ages 14 to 18 in Ulster County who are interested in the American Dairy Association Dairy Princess and Ambassador Program are invited to register for an orientation meeting at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County Education Center located at 10 Westbrook Lane in Kingston. The meeting will cover the requirements and responsibilities of the Princess and Ambassador Program.

Dairy princess is for young women ages 16 to 18 and is chosen to represent the number one agricultural industry in New York State. The title is held for one year, with responsibilities that cover a wide range of public relations activities. The dairy ambassador program is a complementary program for young women ages 14 to 15. The ambassador functions within the county to assist the dairy princess in carrying out her duties, and educates and trains future princess candidates and promoters.

The Dairy Princess and Ambassador program is organized by the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council (ADADC), their mission is to economically benefit dairy farmers by encouraging the consumption of milk and dairy products through advertising, education and promotion, to reach consumers with product benefits and advantages. The program is funded by dairy producers in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

The orientation meeting details will be sent to all who register on or before April 30, 2009. For more details call Larry Hulle at 845-344-1234.
